Low weight, structural integrity, safety and
design flexibility were the main design parameters
for the MXT chassis development.
The main chassis elements are built from specially
designed aluminum extrusions, combined with
aluminum sheet boxes. The floor is a composite
molding/aluminum sheet sandwich. The chassis
elements are bonded with Henkel Epoxy structural
adhesives.
A Chromoly square tube complementary subframe
supports the engine, transaxle and rear suspension.
An energy absorbing crash box is mounted ahead
of the front axle.
The composite body center section is bonded to the
chassis with polyurethane adhesive. Bumpers,
doors, hood and engine lid are molded In RTM
composites.
State of the art electronics, including a dual mode
racing style instrument cluster are specified.
The Mastretta MXT was designed around the
VCA Type Approval certification process. All
production cars will meet VCA guidelines.
